Wide Lane Turnstiles
Fastlane wide lane turnstiles from Smarter Security provide clear lane widths from 39.3" (998 mm) up to 47.24" (1,200 mm). That exceeds the 32" ADA minimum and meets the 950 mm minimum in the City of Toronto's 2021 Accessibility Design Guidelines. Wider Fastlane lanes also include Sidegate Detection®, so one lane serves wheelchairs, carts, and everyday foot traffic without a separate accessible gate.
LET'S CONNECTDid you know...
Scooters, gurneys and bikes with riders walking alongside all need room. Fastlane wide lanes open up to 47.24″ (1,200 mm), with space for all of them plus everyday foot traffic in one secure lane. Sidegate Detection® still catches anyone trying to slip through side by side.
Why Specify a Wider Lane?
One wide lane replaces the standard lane plus a side gate, with no loss of security or speed.
One lane for every user
Mobility devices, strollers, and carts pass through the same lane as everyone else. Nobody gets routed to a side gate.
Less lobby footprint
Drop the separate accessible gate and reclaim floor space. One wide lane serves everyone, so the bank stays compact.
No security trade-off
The wide lane runs the same neural-network infrared detection as every Fastlane lane, plus side-by-side entry detection.
Same throughput
Up to 60 people per minute per lane, matching every standard Fastlane lane. Tailgate detection stays at 1/4″, rush hour or not.
Wide Lane Turnstiles for Every Entrance
Wider Fastlane lanes pass wheelchairs, strollers, and equipment carts without a side gate. Fewer pedestals keep installation costs down, and Sidegate Detection catches two people walking through side by side.

Wider Lane Turnstile Options
Compare wide lane turnstiles side by side. Lanes range from 39.3″ (998 mm) to 47.24″ (1,200 mm), so you can size each lane to what passes through it, with full tailgate detection on every model.
Glassgate 150 Plus
A wide lane up to 39.4″ (1,000 mm) on a slim 48.6″ pedestal. Waist-height glass keeps the lobby open while wheelchairs, carts, and everyday foot traffic share one secure lane.
Glassgate 155
Opens up to 47.24″ (1,200 mm), the widest Fastlane lane, with room for scooters, gurneys, and deliveries. Add the locking barrier option where you need extra control.
Glassgate 400
Tall glass barriers from 3.5 to 6 ft in a lane up to 39.3″ (998 mm). Top sensors stop jump-overs, and mobility devices roll straight through.
Glassgate 400 Plus
Maximum width meets maximum height: lanes up to 47.24″ (1,200 mm) with glass barriers up to 6 ft. Top sensors and a locking barrier option suit high-security lobbies that still need room for everyone.

Side-by-side detection
Sidegate Detection®
A lane wide enough for a wheelchair is wide enough for two people side by side. Sidegate Detection reads the size, shape, and speed of everything in the lane thousands of times per second and alarms when two people attempt to pass on one credential. It is exclusive to wider Fastlane lanes and is not available on access gates.
Accessibility guidelines
Toronto Accessibility Design Guidelines
The 2021 TADG is the accessibility bar for City of Toronto facilities. Fastlane turnstiles meet each turnstile requirement:
- 950 mm minimum clear width: four Glassgate models clear it without a gap.
- Break-away egress: push-through from the secure side, even with 300 N (67 lbf) locking brakes. Brakes release on power loss.
- Vision panel contrast: full Rimex metal and powder-coat pedestal finishes plus custom glass for high-contrast designs.
- Closed-fist operable controls: works with virtually any card reader or biometric, including touchless facial recognition.
What to Know
Frequently Asked Questions
Specifying wide lanes for your entrance? Here is what architects, security teams, and facility managers ask us most about lane widths, ADA, and accessibility guidelines.
How wide is a wide lane turnstile?
Fastlane wide lane turnstiles provide 39.3″ (998 mm) to 47.24″ (1,200 mm) of clear width. Standard lanes are 26″ (660 mm) or 36″ (914 mm).
Are Fastlane turnstiles ADA compliant?
Yes. Every Glassgate model is available at 36″ (914 mm), above the 32″ ADA minimum. Wider models reach 47.24″ (1,200 mm).
Which models meet the Toronto Accessibility Design Guidelines?
Glassgate 155, 400 Plus, 150 Plus, and 400 all provide a clear lane of 39.3″ (998 mm) or wider. Glassgate 400 Plus reaches 47.24″ (1,200 mm) and Glassgate 155 reaches 47.2″ (1,199 mm).
Do I still need a separate accessible gate?
Usually not. A Fastlane lane 39.3″ (998 mm) or wider handles mobility devices and carts with full detection. Access gates remain useful for occasional oversized deliveries.
