Elegant Fastlane® GlassGate™ Optical Turnstiles Increase Security While Reducing Expenses
Austin, Texas – September 16, 2009

Smarter Security Systems, provider of intelligent entrance control and outdoor security solutions, today announced its Fastlane GlassGate 200 optical turnstile was chosen to protect the lobby of a prominent class A building in Los Angeles. In addition to enhancing the safety of the people and property in the building, the Fastlane security turnstiles also enabled the building management to save operational expenses by reducing its security officer headcount.

“We are pleased to count another distinctive building in southern California as one of our customers,” said Mark Ellsworth, Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Smarter Security Systems. “In order to be competitive, premium Class A buildings must provide security for their tenants, and Fastlane GlassGate is the perfect blend of security and style for such a property. This client, as many do, discovered the payback period on installing Fastlane turnstiles is short. With the reliability and the security performance of Fastlane, this customer reduced its guard count and will begin realizing net savings within three years.”

Four lanes of GlassGate 200 with four-foot high glass were installed in pairs to secure access to two elevator bays in the lobby of the building. The multi-tenant high-rise office tower is managed by a property management company that chose GlassGate 200 after seeing it in a Fortune® 50 corporate headquarters, where they were impressed by its aesthetic appeal. The small size of the pedestals was also important as the turnstiles had to fit into an existing space and the customer wanted two lanes per elevator bay. After installing the turnstiles, the management company eliminated two security officer positions which saved 160 man hours a week.

Fastlane GlassGate is a high security optical turnstile because of the deterrence provided by the imposing glass gates that can be as high as six feet. The swinging gates move quickly to allow authorized passage and to return to position to block tailgaters. Safety beams protect those in the lane from injury from the moving gates. In addition to the imposing barrier, Fastlane optical technology detects tailgaters within a quarter inch and sounds local or remote alarms to notify security guards. Additional security measures, such as controlling elevators and triggering CCTV cameras, can also be automatically activated. The advanced intelligence of Fastlane systems reduces false alarms, making the turnstiles easy to manage by guard staff.

Smarter Security will be showcasing GlassGate, as well as its barrier arm turnstiles and its new architect-inspired Fastlane ClearStyle™ at ASIS International’s annual event in Anaheim, September 21-24, 2009.
