New executives came to a storied and established marine services company not long ago and moved to increase employee accountability. To help with this, the company elected to put six lanes of Fastlane Glassgate® 150 turnstiles in its headquarters lobby to secure access to the elevators. By requiring employees to also badge out, they will keep track of all people in the building.
The customer chose Glassgate 150 for the high level of security Fastlane technology brings and because the glass barriers and side panels in the sleek pedestals accentuate the building lobby aesthetics. Fastlane floor protectors will simplify the installation and allow the company to preserve the integrity of the unique stone floor.
FastScan TVS Reads QR Codes from Smartphones
Smartphones are becoming evermore powerful and now you can use them with Fastlane! Already the only supplier with a factory-installed prox./barcode reader solution, Smarter Security now offers the PS model of FastScan TVS which reads QR codes from smartphone screens.
Building managers can save paper and ink costs and simply send visitors an email with a unique QR code. A visitor pulls this image up on his smartphone and presents it to the reader window in the turnstile where the bright LEDs signal to show the QR code. Buildings not only streamline visitor entry but also project a modern, sophisticated image. Download the datasheet to learn more.
Fastlane Connect Touchscreen
Fastlane Connect enables management of IP-enabled Fastlane turnstiles, and in increasing numbers, customers have moved to requesting and using this IP functionality. To better serve their needs, we are now introducing the Connect Touchscreen which offers a new level of control for Fastlane turnstiles.
To date, Connect has provided the convenience of web-based management, which means any authorized computer or mobile device can be used to control the lanes. With the Connect Touchscreen, buildings will have a familiar desktop device that elegantly presents a set of lanes to be managed and allows up to 64 lanes to be controlled from a single unit. Ask your sales manager for more information and come see it at ASIS!

Fastlane Turnstiles Survive Hurricane Submersion
It’s that time of year again which brings to mind 2012’s Superstorm Sandy. While we were concerned about employees in the path, we also have hundreds of Fastlane turnstiles installed along the northeast corridor and we knew some were hit by the massive storm. One building in lower Manhattan that was walloped by Sandy had a nice surprise months later after more urgent building issues were addressed – the Fastlane turnstiles still worked!
This building took on several feet of sea water – enough to completely submerge the Fastlane Plus turnstiles in the lobby. Fish were literally swimming around the pedestals. The building owners were ready to replace all the lanes, but after the remedial damage work was completed and the "inner workings" were dry, the turnstiles worked fine. We hope your building is never hit by a hurricane, but if it is, we hope you have Fastlane.
