Baltimore High-Rise Upgrades Lobby with ClearStyle 200
For a multi-tenant high-rise building, losing your primary tenant is always bad news, but in a downturn such as this it can be crippling. A large high-rise in Baltimore seized the opportunity to renovate its lobby and enhance security in order to attract new tenants. Aesthetics were very important to this class A property and they chose the architect-inspired ClearStyle 200. The building installed 12 lanes of a custom ClearStyle 200 with square ends to secure both entries for two elevator bays.
The small footprint of the optical-only unit allowed the property owner to install three lanes in the tight space at each entrance to maximize traffic flow. FastScan TVS used at each entrance further streamlines traffic by integrating visitors into the same entry process. For maximizing building value, Fastlane is the perfect choice.
IMS Research Claims Smarter Security's Fastlane is the Leader
IMS Research conducts a biennial study and in July published its 2011 World Market for Pedestrian Entrance Control Equipment report. IMS covers many facets of the security industry and is unique in this market in that they use real data compiled from talking with three-quarters of the suppliers. This leads to a comprehensive report detailing 11 different equipment types across 14 end-user industries and 31 different countries.
We are happy to see IMS report that Fastlane optical turnstiles still lead the speedgates industry in the Americas. With over 30% of the market and separated from the number two supplier by 13 percentage points, Fastlane has a sizeable advantage. We appreciate all our customers helping us get to the number one position again, and we are working hard to stay there.
Customer Survey to Improve Business
Earlier this summer, we conducted our own research - a customer satisfaction survey to listen more intently to our customers. Many of you were kind enough to spend a bit of time on the phone with our researchers and provide candid, helpful feedback. We are very grateful for your input and your reception convinced us we are on the right path.
Our management team has reviewed the survey results, and process and technology changes are underway. One of the first changes will lead to faster turnaround on drawing requests. We will periodically be in touch with customers in the future to see how we’re doing and if you are contacted, we would greatly value your insights.
Key Additions to Smarter Sales Team
We are pleased to announce the hiring of our Vice President of Sales and Business Development, Ralph Spagnola. Ralph joined the company earlier this month to build out our sales team and lead all sales efforts for Fastlane and Smarter Outdoor throughout the Americas. Ralph has already been in the field meeting customers and we invite you to stop in and visit with him at ASIS next month.
Jessi Eidem also recently joined the Smarter team in a sales support role. She will be engaging with and helping many Fastlane customers early in the sales process.
Smarter Makes Inc. 5000 for Fourth Year
Inc. released its 2011 Inc. 5000 report on the fastest-growing private companies in America last week. While it is astounding that a company could go from less than $1 million to more than $77M in three years (#1 ideeli), that so many companies found substantial growth in lean economic years attests to the innovation and industrial might of America. If you help lead a private enterprise, you may find ideas and inspiration from stories of these leaders found alongside the entire list online.
We are excited to see that Smarter Security made the Inc. 5000 for the fourth consecutive year. Growth came from both divisions of the company and we ranked #2,931 overall. We were also number 44 of 66 companies in the security industry, which was the 6th fastest-growing industry in the country. See which other fast-growing security companies you know.
